Hao

The Harp Island – The island received its nickname from the French navigator Bougainville because of its harp shape.

Hao is located 920 kms to the east of Tahiti and is 55 kms in length. Hao’s lagoon is one of the longest in French Polynesia and has only one reef passage at Kaki in the north end of the atoll.

Some of the people in the village of Otepa earn their living from the growing pearl farm industry.
