Nukutakavake

Nukutakavake is a small atoll, with a surface of 5 square kilometers, located at over 1,000 km away from Tahiti. It offers the peculiar distinction of having a lagoon without pass completely fillet by the sand and by the coconut plantation.

The 139 inhabitants of the ilot live in the village of Tavananui, where the traditional activities are always practised as harvest of the copra and fishing. They are recently completed by the tourism which develops.

Despite its shift away from Tahiti, the island is still quite easily accessible ; By air thanks to the small airport which welcomes on every Sunday the shuttles of Air Tahiti or by boat aboard schooners Kura Ora II and III. You will need however about ten day to join Nukutakavake if you choose this mode of transport.
