Kaukura

Oval in shape, Kaukura is an atoll of 50 kms by 14 kms and divided into two groups of 65 islets, encloses a shallow lagoon with crystal clear waters and joined the ocean by the Faape’s pass.

The main village of Raitahiti nestled under the coconut trees on the northern part of the atoll has its own small airdrome close by.

The 379 inhabitants depend mainly on lagoon fishing for their livelihood and their many fish parks supply the markets of Papeete with fresh fish.

During your stay on the atoll, stay in guesthouses, come to discover the traditional activities of the island and do you tell the famous legend of the god Tutonu.
