Tahiti Fashion WeekFrom New York to Paris through Milan… all the world’s fashion capitals host “Fashion Week” twice a year. This bi-annual fashion event gathers all designers, stylists and fashion houses around the world aiming to show their latest collections and new trends in the fashion world.

For the first year, a Fashion Week will be organized in Tahiti. It will highlight Polynesian creation and talent. From June 11 to 13, the Tahitian Fashion Week will take place in the Polynesian “Chamber of Commerce and Industry”. Called « Tahiti Fashion Week », this event is organized by Alberto VivianOrganizing committee (a known person in the Polynesian fashion field) with the help of the Exotic Gardens agency and the “Pito Pito” association.

Various Polynesian designers will take pride in presenting their collections of “prêt-à-porter”, jewelry and accessories. The talented designers and stylists will combine local and international trends to offer the best of Polynesian fashion.The public will enjoy splendid creations made of natural materials such as the Tahitian pearl, shells or the Tapa (a vegetable fiber).

This great event is also a chance to gather together all “fashion victims”Polynesian fashion of Tahiti. During this week , several ramp shows shall be organized as well as a model contest. Many beautiful “vahines” will try their chance and participate in a big audition. The contest will end on the last day of Fashion Week at the prestigious Le Méridien Tahiti hotel. The finalist, chosen by a jury of selected members in the industry will win a trip to Milan for a test photo shoot and a chance to sign a modeling contract with the professional agency Brave ; the cradle of Italian fashion.

Interest sparked in Polynesian models in the fashion industry was revealed during the last Marylin Agency contest. This famous competition discovered several Polynesian models, as Hinarani De Longeaux and Mehiata Riaria, to name a few. Both were former Miss Tahiti and 1st runner up for Miss France. These Tahitian models have become real examples of success stories inPolynesian models Polynesian fashion and role models for many young Polynesian girls.

The “Tahiti Fashion Week” event may hopefully become part of the international fashion events calendar in the long term – A unique opportunity to promote the “Fenua”, our talented designers and charming “vahine”.
