Beauty contests are very frequent in Tahiti and her islands. If you have a look at local newspapers you will realize how popular are these elections.

The most famous of these contests is the yearly election of Miss Tahiti in June, which crowns the most beautiful of all the beauties that our islands count. Actually, this election put an end to the "election season" : the misses of all French Polynesia already elected (miss Bora Bora, miss Tuamotu, miss Marquesas...) mixed to new candidates, present herselves to that supreme election.

Miss Tahiti is actually considered as a real ambassadress of French Polynesia for she is the representative of our islands for the national election of Miss France. Thus, by the past, three Miss Tahiti became Miss France, two of which are Mareva George and Mareva Galanter.

We can also note the elections of Miss Dragon (ambassadress of the Chinese community's beauty and culture), as well as Miss Heiva (best representative of the Polynesian culture).

As usual, our misses have special privileges and they are often invited to stand close to officials as honor guests during public celebrations. These beauty contests definitely constitute a good promotion for our destination and also permit to our most beautiful and smartest misses to take part in international competions.
